Automatic System-Level Test Generators
ToolAutomatic system-level test generators are tools used during the development of Transmeta's Crusoe processor and its Code Morphing Software (CMS) to automatically produce tests at both the instruction level and the system level. These generators target the underlying VLIW ISA as well as the x86 ISA emulated by CMS, complementing hand-written tests and real workloads. Their purpose is to create tests complicated enough to uncover failures missed by simple hand-written tests, while often being easier to diagnose than failures observed in real workloads. They are used both for hardware and software development, and for both detecting and diagnosing failures.
